The photo in this blog tells a much deeper story than at first glance. These two men are from the same country and are fighting for two different causes. Separated by location, they each stood on principles that defined the war they were fighting, but in the end only one side could be victorious.
Union Soldier: No man has the ability to do what is right for our country like our President. He has remained a beacon of hope in these times of strife and death. He has the best intentions for our country, and is doing right by fighting to keep our union together at all costs. Slavery is not the issue, the issue is its expansion which is something we will not stand for, and if South Carolina or any other southern state who thinks differently is willing to jeopardize the unity of our country they should be ready and willing to fight.
Confederate Citizen: The people and governing body of South Carolina declared that the frequent violations of the Constitution of the United States, by the Federal Government, and its violations upon the reserved rights of the States, fully justifies our state of South Carolina in seceding. President Lincoln does not have the best intentions in his Presidency, and with him as our leader the southern part of our country is headed for failure. We have the constitutional right to own slaves, and Lincoln is threatening our main source of income, and a necessary asset of southern culture. We reserve the right to keep our slaves!
